LO: I can explain the Central Dogma and how transcription happens
Do Now:
- Protein comes from DNA
- What are some examples of protein
DNA makes RNA, RNA makes proteins.
Hair and enzymes are some examples of proteins.
DNA vs RNA
- DNA is two strands while RNA is one strand.
- RNA has base U instead of T.
- RNA has ribose sugar instead of deoxyribose sugar.
Codon Codons are sets of three bases and code for amino acids.
Transcription Transcription is the process of copying a segment of DNA into RNA. The segments of DNA transcribed into RNA molecules that can encode proteins produce messenger RNA.
